The challenge

Independent retailers are sold a point of sale, then an inventory add-on, then a web store on a different platform, then a marketplace connector that syncs stock badly. Each piece works; the seams do not. Stock drifts between channels, the online catalog lags the shelf, and the owner spends their evening reconciling instead of selling.

Overview

Retailer OS gives independent and multi-location retailers a single system to run the whole business. The touch-first register handles multi-tender payments, works offline, and reconciles the drawer at close. Inventory is tracked per location with purchase orders, vendor receipts and low-stock alerts.

The same catalog powers a public online store with email authentication, pickup and delivery, and subscriptions — then syncs stock and pricing out to Google Shopping, Meta Shop, Amazon and eBay. CRM, loyalty points, referrals and email workflows sit on top of it.

AI runs through the product rather than beside it: automated item descriptions, customer insights, loss-prevention analysis and natural-language operational commands.

How we built it
01

One catalog, many surfaces

The register, the online store and every marketplace listing read the same item records. There is no sync between systems because there is only one system — what syncs outward is the projection, not the truth.

02

Offline as an architecture, not a feature

The register holds its own catalog and transaction log and treats a completed sale as an immutable event with a client-generated id. Reconnecting replays the queue idempotently, so a two-hour outage and a clean connection run the same code path.

03

AI inside the workflow

Item descriptions, customer insight, loss-prevention analysis and natural-language operations sit where the work already happens rather than behind a separate assistant tab.

04

Native only where the web cannot reach

The product is a web app. A native shell exists for one honest reason: cash drawers, receipt printers and scanners speak protocols a browser tab cannot fully reach.

What it does
  • Point of Sale — offline-capable, multi-tender, drawer reconciliation
  • Inventory — per-location stock, POs, vendor receipts, low-stock alerts
  • Online Store — public catalog, pickup/delivery, subscriptions
  • Marketplaces — Google, Meta, Amazon, eBay with synced stock and pricing
  • CRM & Loyalty — points, referrals, email workflows
  • AI Tools — descriptions, insights, loss prevention, command execution
Outcome
  • Point of sale, inventory, storefront, marketplaces, CRM and loyalty running as one system with no per-module fees
  • Stock and pricing published to Google, Meta, Amazon and eBay from the same records the register uses
  • Deployed across hardware, jewelry, apparel, grocery, cosmetics, furniture, electronics and specialty retail
  • Multi-location tenants operating per-location stock, purchase orders and vendor receipts on one account
